Scott Granville

Co-founder: Chasing Time English

Scott has worked in the media and education sectors for over 15 years in New Zealand, South Korea, Australia and the United States. While his more recent focus has been on creating and producing award-winning, original content for multimedia platforms, Scott has extensive experience and post-graduate qualifications in English language and literature (MTESOL, MA in English), research and mentoring, as well as in-depth knowledge of cross-departmental and cross-industry collaboration processes in the education sector.

An experienced lecturer, teacher and coach, and with more than a decade of leading complex creative projects, he possesses strong leadership and organisational skills, and enjoys being challenged in collaborative and education-based work environments.

Ben is an award-winning filmmaker currently based in Wellington, New Zealand. Having spent the better part of 20 years in the creative industry, and producing content for a wide range of international clientele across multiple sectors, Ben has amassed a strong portfolio of film and photographic work. He has worked on a number major motion pictures in the Wellington region and his production work has taken him to all corners of the world.

Jonathon (Jono) has taught English since 1997, holding academic and managerial positions in Ireland, Mexico, and New Zealand, which have also encompassed brief stints in Guatemala, Japan, Korea and China. He holds a PhD and MA in applied linguistics, a postgraduate diploma in second language teaching and a bachelor degree in Screen & Media Studies. Jono is particularly interested in applying insights from Conversation Analysis. His research has appeared in the prestigious journals Language Learning, Journal of Pragmatics, and ELT Journal, and he co-edited the recent volume Reflective Practice: Voices from the Field (Routledge, 2017). Jono has also spent many years designing and writing teaching materials, both in his previous role as a Director of Studies and more recently through publications such as Modern English Teacher and a forthcoming volume by TESOL Press.
Karen Kemsley: Production Manager

Karen Kemsley

Production Manager

Karen has lived, worked and travelled in nearly forty countries, including seven years in Africa and South America. Originally from London, she settled in NZ in 2001, working as an English language teacher and academic counsellor. Karen is passionate about communication and has a special interest in teaching listening and speaking skills. Prior to settling and focusing on language teaching, Karen applied her productive skills and resourceful character to a career in the movie industry, working on productions such as, The Last Samurai and Prince Caspian.

Craig has worked in English language education for over a decade with employment positions in China, South Korea and New Zealand. He brings extensive educational leadership qualities as well as a wealth of prior experience in the service industry to his role. Craig has been actively involved in film production administration, and alongside a lifelong passion for travel, brings an agile and global mindset to the executive team.

Diego Vilela

Web Developer

Diego has studied web development since his adolescence, transforming what began as a hobby into a career, working firstly with the Brazilian Air Force before joining the team at Chasing Time English.

After gaining a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Diego now desires to use the tools created by the open source community in favour of education and environment protection.
